1. What We Collect
We collect the following information when you use SaleMap:
- Organizer accounts: Email address (used for authentication and communication)
- Household registrations: Name, street address, city, state, ZIP code, email, phone (optional), sale description, categories, and hours
- Event data: Event title, dates, description, and map configuration
- Payment data: Processed by Stripe — we do not store credit card numbers
2. How We Use Your Data
- Display household names, addresses, and sale details on public event maps
- Geocode addresses (convert to map coordinates) using third-party geocoding services
- Send authentication links and event notifications via email
- Process payments via Stripe for Premium upgrades
- Generate printable PDF flyers with map data
3. What We Share
We share data only with the services required to operate SaleMap:
- Geocoding provider: Street addresses are sent to resolve map coordinates
- Stripe: Payment details for Premium upgrades
- Email provider: Email addresses for authentication and notifications
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
4. Public Information
When a household registers for a published event, the following information is displayed publicly on the event map: household name, street address, city, sale hours, categories, and sale description. Email addresses and phone numbers are never displayed publicly — they are only visible to the event organizer.
5. Data Retention
Public event pages may remain online indefinitely as community historical records. Household names, exact street addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, and generated print assets are removed from the public archive 30 days after the sale ends. Organizers may request earlier removal of a public event page or a specific household listing.
6. Your Rights
You may request to:
- View the data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and associated data
- Remove a specific household registration from an event
Contact [email protected] for any data requests.
7. Cookies
SaleMap uses only essential session cookies for authentication. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or third-party advertising cookies.
8. Security
We use HTTPS encryption, CSRF protection, prepared database statements, and input validation to protect your data. Authentication is handled via secure magic-link emails — no passwords are stored.
9. Changes
We may update this policy as our service evolves. Material changes will be communicated via the email address on your account.
